A few weeks ago, controversial screening and mammography guidelines issued by a government task force. In response, over 25,000 Komen Advocates took action, signing our petition to ensure all women age 40 and older will have access to vital early detection and screening services. Thanks in part to your efforts, an amendment sponsored by Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) was added to the Senate health reform bill that will do just that – with no out of pocket costs for patients.
We have seen the power of our voices. We know we can effect change in public policy. Now, an amendment before the Senate could ensure cancer patients have access to clinical trials. To make sure it passes, we need your help once more!

The Senate is making final revisions to its health care reform bill right now. If a bipartisan amendment proposed by Senators Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) is added to the bill, cancer patients could be assured access to clinical trials – one of our key goals for health reform.
Clinical trials help researchers deliver new scientific discoveries to patients and offer a lifeline for people with life-threatening illnesses like cancer. But some cancer patients are denied access because their insurance won't cover the costs. The Brown-Hutchison clinical trial amendment removes this barrier, which will offer hope to thousands of people and help to advance our scientific knowledge.
But we must act NOW if we are going to make sure clinical trial coverage is included in the Senate health reform bill. Write your senators TODAY!
We have to show our Senators that clinical trials have overwhelming support from cancer advocates and must be included in the Senate health bill.
