Mercy Medical Center in Canton Presents Partners in Survival: A Free Program for Women Diagnosed with Cancer and the Men Who Support Them

Mercy Cancer Center in Canton invites everyone to hear guest speaker Marc Heyison on Thursday, October 5th. Marc Heyison, president of Men Against Breast Cancer, will present Partners in Survival program to help men navigate the crisis of cancer when it strikes the women they love. The goal of Partners is to improve the quality of patient survivorship by teaching men proven problem solving techniques that focus on the needs of the cancer patient and family. The activities concentrate on empowering men and women to get the best from each other by working towards a common goal and solving complex and emotionally laden problems – a process called gender synergy.

During a breakout session, men will have the opportunity to have an open and interactive conversation about their role as caregivers, and women will be participating in yoga, nutrition planning, and mindfulness activities.

Space is limited. To register, call Mercy Healthcare Connection at (330) 489-1333 or (800) 223-8662. This is a free event. Light hors d’oeuvres will be provided.

METAvivor: Metastatic Breast Cancer Support Group

METAvivor is an organization dedicated to the specific fight of women and men living with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. METAvivor brings attention to the specific issues of stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, and raise public awareness about the facts of the disease. Certified Peer-to-Peer Support Group leaders in the Cleveland area invite anyone who has metastatic breast cancer, Stave IV breast cancer, or breast cancer that has spread to participate in monthly support group meetings. Support group meetings allow metastatic fighters to share experiences, resources, ideas on coping and managing side effects, and building a circle of friends who “get it”… a circle where everyone understands each other cause you all walk in the same shoes.

Details for the next Cleveland METAvivor support group meeting are forthcoming. Please email Wendy at wendykozel@gmail.com or Jennifer at jcantalvari@yahoo.com for more information.
