BURN THE SHIPS at the Cleveland International Film Festival
Komen Northeast Ohio is once again partnering with the Cleveland International Film Festival, this year as they present BURN THE SHIPS, an intimate and moving portrait of the Akron Racers, the longest tenured team in the National Pro Fastpitch League. As longtime friends of the Racers and their manager, Joey Arietta, this film hits home for us in many ways. We are pleased to attend all three screenings, including the March 31st, 7pm screening, taking place at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, just steps away from the route of our Akron Race for the Cure! Cleveland Indians Pink Ribbon Game
Join Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio and the Cleveland Indians on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Progressive Field as they take on the Minnesota Twins. MLB Honorary Bat Girl
Major League Baseball is proud to partner with Susan G. Komen for its “Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer” campaign to raise awareness for a cause that affects families everywhere. All home MLB games on Mother’s Day (May 14, 2017) will be “pink”! Coinciding with the Mother’s Day festivities, MLB will host the Honorary Bat Girl Contest, which seeks to recognize breast cancer survivors, co-survivors and those affected by this disease.
From March 6, 2017 to April 12, 2017 contestants are encouraged to submit their stories about how they or someone they know are “Going to Bat Against Breast Cancer” and why they would like to be an Honorary Bat Girl for their favorite MLB Club. Testimonials can be submitted by men and women 18 years of age or older.
On Mother’s Day, the Honorary Bat Girl winners may be granted the opportunity to take part in pre-game activities, be honored during an on-field ceremony and receive two tickets to the game, along with pink MLB merchandise. Komen Northeast Ohio is excited to announce a new partnership with Xclusive Travel through its travel platform, Travel for the Cause, benefiting Susan G. Komen. From 6/15/15 through 5/31/17, Xclusive will donate to Komen $1.00 for each paid booking through Travel for the Cause. Bowl for the Cure
Bowl for the Cure® is a year-round fundraising and breast cancer initiative conducted by the United States Bowling Congress to support Susan G. Komen®. USBC Associations, Leagues and other groups help drive this program through bowling events with fun formats–all in an effort to support the fight against breast cancer. Event forms and tools, as well as event ideas, are available to help ensure a successful Bowl for the Cure event at www.bowlforthecure.com.
Since Bowl for the Cure’s inception in 2000, people from across the country have hit the lanes to raise over $10 million for breast cancer research and awareness. There are several ways to help this effort:

Employee Giving through Combined Federal Campaign
Employee giving campaign season is underway and many public sector campaigns, including the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), have kicked off.
Komen Northeast Ohio’s CFC code is CFC 54454. Federal donors can use this number no matter where they are located in the world. The code is only good in Federal campaigns. Susan G. Komen participates in campaigns throughout the country with local Community Health Charities Affiliates. Donors can find our code under the Community Health Charities listing, regardless of the campaign.

2016 marked the 16th Anniversary of Wacoal’s Fit for the Cure® program benefiting Susan G. Komen®! For every woman who received a professional bra fitting at an event, Wacoal donated $2 to Susan G. Komen® (no purchase necessary). Wacoal also donated $2 to Komen for every Wacoal bra, shapewear item or b.tempt’d bra purchased at these events.
