Ride the Pink Elevator Campaign
Metro Elevator Inc. Partners with Gilbane Building Co., Burkshire Construction and Regency Constructions Services to Raise Over $10,000 with Ohio’s Second “Ride the Pink Elevator” Campaign
The conclusion of this campaign brings the total amount raised for Susan G. Komen Northeast
and Northwest Ohio to over $15,000.
Cleveland, Ohio, February 11, 2016 — Metro Elevator Co. Inc. announced today the completion of their second “Ride the Pink Elevator” campaign in Ohio. The installation is located on the campus of MetroHealth, in the heart of Cleveland and launched in October. Through the generous donations of the job site crews, companies and community the campaign raised $10,015 for Susan G. Komen Northeast Ohio. Donors included Gilbane Building Co., Burkshire Construction, Regency Construction Services, The Smith & Oby Co., Precision Environmental Co., Warren Roofing, The Walsh Group, OCP Contractors, Inc., Giorgi Interior Systems, Inc., Industrial First, Inc., Corcoran Tile & Marble, Inc., Construction Employers Association, and Painters & Allied Trades District No. 6, among others. The check presentation will be Friday, February 19, 2016 at 8:15 am in the West Dining Hall at MetroHealth Medical Center, Main Campus. Campaign leaders, MetroHealth staff, Komen Northeast Ohio representatives, and donors will be in attendance.
Metro Elevator hosted a campaign kickoff at the site location in October and donations were accepted through January 2016. Gilbane is the lead construction management firm on the project, and project owner, MetroHealth, agreed to allow the installation of the bright pink elevator and pink-ribbon counter-weight on the southern exterior of the building in place of a standard construction hoist.
Metro Elevator specializes in rack and pinion construction hoist sales and leasing, and paints select elevators in the signature Komen pink to raise awareness of breast cancer. They then partner with clients, top builders, construction managers and general contractors on select projects in major cities throughout the U.S. and are working with Komen leaders in Ohio to turn this into a well-received national program.
“Through the two campaigns in Findlay and Cleveland, Metro Elevator has raised over $15,000 for two Komen affiliates in Ohio in less than a year,” said Roger Brummett, Vice President of Metro Elevator. “The Ride the Pink Elevator Campaign is unique as it focuses on reaching an audience that doesn’t always relate to messaging traditionally geared toward women.”
Metro Elevator’s initiative has converted hoist elevators into brilliant, vibrant pink fundraising ambassadors for a cause that affects approximately 12 percent of women annually
