Fred Koury co-founded Smart Business Network in 1989 with a single publication in Cleveland, Ohio. In the years since, he has built the company into a leading multimedia and content marketing business providing print and digital marketing services to a national client base.
Convero, the company’s content marketing division, provides a full range of print and digital content marketing programs for such organizations as Avery Dennison, First Energy, University Hospitals, Medline, the National Psoriasis Foundation and Huntington National Bank. Smart Business Magazines & Events, the company’s multimedia division, includes management journals in 4 major U.S. markets, more than 30 B2B events and www.SBNOnline.com, which features more than 20,000 management and leadership articles on such successful CEOs as Steve Wozniak, Dan Gilbert and Mark Cuban.
Live events have become an integral part of the Smart Business brand. Smart Women is held each April and honors women in Northeast Ohio who have achieved excellence in business leadership. ASPIRE is held each May and brings together top dealmakers and entrepreneurs to share their expertise on how deals get done and in June, the Smart 50 event recognizes the region’s best and most influential business leaders.
Fred has served on a number of boards, including the United Way of Greater Cleveland, and Cuyahoga Community College Foundation. He is a member of The 50 Club of Cleveland, a prestigious group of top business leaders in Greater Cleveland. He also serves on U.S. Bank’s Northeast Ohio Advisory Board, which consults with and provides advice and feedback to the bank’s president and senior management team.
Fred’s formal education includes a business finance degree from Bowling Green State University in 1985 and graduate work at The Ohio State University. He currently resides in Westlake with his wife Lena and sons Michael and Joseph.
